Fear Factor: GrandDaddy-Daughter Edition

I have to say, the Activity Day leaders here in the Hill Country ward outdid themselves with this activity. The girls got to bring their daddy, grandpa or other fantastic male role model of choice to be their partner is a fearless night of Fear Factor - Activity Days.

Our fearless team:

Our fearless girl:

Our fearless granddaddy:

Together they bravely met each of the terrifying tasks below.

1. Sweet or Sour, or, as Hunter likes to call it, The Queasy Face Challenge
Each girl and her daddy had to suck on a sour candy and whichever team made a "queasy" face first was out. Hunter and grandpa tied another team for first - no queasy faces made. Woohoo!

2. Ready-Aim-Shave
Each girl shaving creamed up her daddy's face, then flung Cheetos toward them in hopes of having the most Cheetos stick to the shaving cream. Once the Cheetos were counted up, the girls got to shave their daddy's faces clean. SO fearless. The final count - Hunter and grandpa: 2 Cheetos.

2. Lucky Taste Testing Challenge

Each fearless player picked a number at random to taste one of these yummy concoctions.

yuck - grapes, split pea soup and fish eggs:

yuck - cottage cheese and ketchup:

yuck - cranberry sauce and garlic:

yuck - split peas with olives:

yuck - sweet potatoes mashed with anchovies and seaweed:

yuck - mashed hot dogs and garbanzo beans:

yuck, yuck, yuck. Hunter got to taste the cranberry delight. Grandpa enjoyed the delish hot dog superfly.  Did I say yuck?

3. Spiders, Frogs, and Lizards
So this time they got to search for creatures in the slimy noodles.

Together, Hunter and grandpa found eight frogs and spiders to secure FIRST place!

4. A Swingin' Relay Race
Ok, you just have to see this one to appreciate the level of competition here.

The refreshments were so deliciously scary.

The rewards were sweet.

And the friends were even sweeter.

A True Saintsation

Behold, out fearless Hunter in her quintessential 4th grade outfit: Old Navy dark wash skinny jeans, Saints jersey and Converse sneakers. This girl is powerful.

Seriously, Hunter has the most gorgeous freckles on the planet. She is such a witty and charismatic soul. She has been working her bum off at school and is learning so much. She is a thoughtful and self-sacrificing big sister who is a privilege to call my friend. I just don't know what I did to be so lucky to be her mommy.

Michael LOVE

Michael was been begging to take tennis since the fliers starting coming home from school advertising this after school tennis camp. So, here he is - our future tennis pro.

OOoo, just look at that front hand swing! (or whatever it's technically called)

Just Keep Swimming . . .

Hunter, Michael and Elle all took swimming lessons at our fabulous neighborhood pool for the past two weeks. For their last lesson, they got some water safety tips and to practice some of their new skills. Note we used Hunter's underwater digital camera for these sweet shots. Here's proof of its underwater powers:

(Yes, Hunter did proudly take this UNDER the water)

Hunter and Michael got to be rescued by a brave lifeguard. They both got a kick out of that (not literally).

Elle learned the art of throwing in a lifesaver. Her coach Beth demonstrated first, then she got a turn to "rescue" Coach Beth. See how carefully Elle places her foot on the rope so that it won't be thrown in with the lifesaver? And this is were the camera battery died :(.

Easter Egg Extravaganza

Easter is such a glorious time of year! We had such a fun time dying eggs and fancying them up.

picking colors was our first job

next we drew out "secret" pictures and messages with wax crayons

Then we dipped them in our fantastic color choices - sometimes more than one color

Then we showed off our creations

General Conference Supreme

We had a sweet set up for watching General Conference this time around. Grandma and grandpa queued up conference on the internet and we set up this table just outside of the office for the kids to work on. Grandma printed up conference worksheet packets and off we went.

Guess who got distracted first. Note: her bowl of goldfish crackers came with her.

Conference Bingo was the favorite activity, well at least the goldfish crackers used as markers for the Bingo were. Hunter's friend Lizzy joined us for our conference party.

I love Conference time. The sweet peace it brings to our family is so powerful.
